Volamos sobre la LAGUNA CHIQUICHANO en TRELEW | Chubut 2022

La laguna Chiquichano es un espejo de agua ubicado en el centro de la ciudad de Trelew, en la provincia del Chubut. Debe su nombre al cacique del mismo nombre, cuya gente se estableció en la margen norte del río Chubut a la llegada de los colonos galeses, y que a ellos les fue útil para construir el Ferrocarril Central del Chubut.

Esta laguna fue y continúa siendo un lugar de vital importancia para los trelewenses. A pesar de ser área protegida creada hace más de 30 años, con el correr del tiempo fue perdiendo su brillo y afluencia de visitantes. Hasta que en el año 2016 el Municipio tomó la decisión de elaborar un Plan de Uso Público y a partir de su implementación la Reserva Natural Municipal Laguna Chiquichano resurgió como un espacio de conservación y recreación para toda la familia.

Entre los organismos que podemos hallar aquí, hay varios que son inocuos para ser humano, pero otros pueden afectar su salud en caso de ingesta de agua (tal como sucedería si se bebe agua de cualquier otra laguna). Entre ellos podemos citar a la cianobacteria Microcystis, productora de hepatotoxinas y causante de que en algunos momentos del año, el agua tome un color verde intenso. La presencia natural de este tipo de organismos es la razón por la que no se permiten las actividades acuáticas y no es para nada conveniente que los perros ingresen al agua, ya que pueden convertirse en vectores de enfermedades.

Con respecto a las aves, además de las propias de la ciudad, que se pueden ver en los árboles y arbustos, la laguna es frecuentada por unas 40 especies que vuelan permanentemente entre los distintos cuerpos de agua del sistema lagunar de Trelew y Rawson.

With regard to birds, in addition to those of the city, which can be seen in the trees and bushes, the lagoon is frequented by some 40 species that fly permanently between the different bodies of water of the Trelew and Rawson lagoon system.
