Back in the 1970s we (Rangers) trained in what was called "combat judo", taking opponent down then killing them.
Knife skills were taught to us by Native Americans and Philippine Silat.

For those who want the short version:
1) MCMAP, specially designed for the Marines. Amalgam martial art.
2) Krav Maga - similar to MCMAP, an amalgam martial art specifically designed for "real combat"
3) Sambo - as is common, an amalgam martial art developed for use by the Russian army
4) Lerdrit - a modification of Muay Thai that adapts techniques for military use
5) Kali (Arnis/Escrima) - focuses on knife/stick fighting but does have hand-to-hand techniques

Krav Maga is brutal, and every move is designed for disarm, disable, or kill with just a slight twist, and each move can be used with a weapon or unarmed. Versatile, brutal, and well tested in close combat.

Unarmed combat is not the core of war. It's a backup when things have gone drastically wrong.

Primary principles of Kali is not to kill your opponent? No wonder why Kali uses weapons including blades and knives for the purpose of not killing the opponent

You forgot to mention MCMAP was designed by a bujinkan blackbelt and has bujinkan as one of its inspirations...

0:18 The Marine Corps Martial Arts Program (MCMAP, /ˈmɪkmæp/) is a combat system developed by the United States Marine Corps to combine existing and new hand-to-hand and close quarters combat (CQC) techniques with morale and team-building functions and instruction in the Warrior Ethos. The program, which began in 2001, trains Marines (and U.S. Navy personnel attached to Marine units) in unarmed combat, edged weapons, weapons of opportunity, and rifle and bayonet techniques. It also stresses mental and character development, including the responsible use of force, leadership, and teamwork.

The mission of the U.S. Army Combatives School is to train Leaders and Soldiers in close quarters Combatives in order to instill the Warrior Ethos and prepare Soldiers to close with and defeat the enemy in hand to hand combat.

MCMAP seems pretty versatile, but... From what I've read, it takes 71, 5 hours to achieve the black belt - which, in the end, isn't that much. For example, in Korean martial art called Hwa Rang Do, achieving the 1st degree black belt takes up to 15 years of continuous training. Now, I understand, that time's not the luxury Marines have - but I can't stop thinking, what kind of discipline MCMAP would be, if achieving black belt would take years instead of just hours...
