The mouse suit seems like a more modern iteration of Tiny-Huge Island from Mario 64 and the Minish Cap from Zelda.

Everything Team Asobi put out so far has been absolutely MAGICAL
I hope to see lots more from them in the future, side by side with the best of Nintendo's stuff 🥰

0:57 That’s actually not true. In Galaxy, the stars are important to the story as they are needed to restore the Comet Observatory.

My 3D platformer rankings:

1. Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2
2. Super Mario Odyssey
3. Astro Bot
4. Banjo Kazooie
5. Super Mario 64
6. Super Mario Sunshine

0:57: OK, so I guess we just forgot that Rosalina needed Power Stars to fuel the Comet Observatory which is her home she made so she and the Lumas can be a family? Or that Isle Delfino needed Shine Sprites so they could literally survive? Or that Power Moons were needed to power the Odyssey because without them Mario and Cappy can’t go anywhere to stop Bowser from stealing artifacts from around the world to set up the forced wedding?

Can we please stop comparing the two and admit they're both fantastic?

Just because we all like Mario-inspired games doesn't mean it beats Mario, nor makes it better than Mario. We all still love Mario at the very end, and the gaming industry would not be where it is today if it weren't for our favourite plumber. It's best not to get petty to start unnecessary debates regardless.

While in some ways I agree with you, 3D Mario could do a lot of these things better, the advantage of Nintendo having multiple platforming series (Kirby, Mario, DK) is that they don't have to push all their creative ideas into one game or one series. Kirby doesn't have to do what Mario does, who doesn't have to do what DK does, and that's okay, too.

Just because it’s inspired by something popular doesn’t mean it’s a rip-off.

1:30 >Astrobot copied Kirby's Forgotten Land
I know it's a joke but by GOD, IT'S FROM APE ESCAPE!
25 YEARS AGO PEOPLE ALREADY HAD FIGURE OUT THE NEXT STEP OF COLLECTABLES!

The first point I think is the most contentious. The collectibles I say DO matter in some Mario games, especially when it involves reviving the main setting like in Sunshine and Galaxy. To call the collectibles in Mario “meaningless” is ridiculous.

7. Overall Pacing: Astro Bot doesn't really have many levels that deviate from the normal gameplay, with the exception of the pre-boss battle level and the guest star stage in fourth world. This means that the game has less risk of having levels people dread playing. There are also far less locations that can be considered autoscrollers, bane to speedrunners and explorers alike.

This is the one game I am envious about not owning a PS5

Astrobot has better graphics, presentation, charm, style
Mario has better game physics, level design, is more fun

Mario still on top. But Astro comes very very close

1. Rude, but not wrong. Collectible NPCs can add more story if it doesn't bog down development with so many unique characters.
2. Basically your DKC:TF hype. Again, not necessarily wrong.
3. Probably works better with a game that isn't about an established character and world, though viable in small doses. Though having mini shroom creating entire new levels sounds awesome.
4. Bosses can definitely use some spicing up. Personally I'd prefer if instead of repeating pattern with harder gimmicks, have multiple possible phases with the boss's motif. A great personal example of mine is Saltim from Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg, where he uses mirrors he hides with different variations of finding the real him such as chasing or finding the unique one before the damaging starts.
5. Kind of hard to do if you want that contextual world.
6. Feels like hub worlds for Mario fell out of favor for Odyssey making every level a hub in its own right. Definitely could use more personal permanent facilities rather than every world having their own in town.

Nintendo fans: “Let things coexist! We don’t need to compare them!”

Also Nintendo fans:
- This video
- Comparing multiversus and smash bros
- Comparing Arms—a fighting game—to a shooter game (this is literally like saying Astral Chain wasn’t as big as Mario. Its stupid. Arms was a financial success on its own even if it’s not as popular)
- Comparing Pokemon and Palworld
- Comparing Moderm Zelda titles to Sonic Frontiers

I think Ape Escape did it before Kirby. Kibry used to be collecting stars too. And if you just mean Kirby and The Forgotten Lands, then A.B Rescue Mission came out before that.
