We watched this during the Sydney Mardi Gras 2023. One of the best films in the QueerScreen Film Festival. Definitely will keep you in your seat. Must watch.

Available na sa Prime!!!

I must say, Romnick deserved the Best Actor Award. Elijah as always never disappoints. Damn that twist though! Hands down to the prod grabe although this is not a big production film, sobrang bawi sa writing, directing and the performances delivered by the two.. ugh

Romnick is an underrated actor. I’ve been a fan since his Gulong ng Palad years as Peping.

ABOUT US BUT NOT ABOUT US - A CRITIQUE
(SEMI-SPOILER ALERT) 🚨

You guys want an honest critique? I’ll give you one.

This an hour and a half psychological, queer-inspired drama film by Jun Lana got me nailed to my seat, at full length, of the said movie. It is not that i got all my eyes and biases for Elijah Canlas (I mean, like, who wouldn’t fall for that dazzling look of his?) but dude, this young man’s acting and that of Romnick Sarmentas’ were truly I-M-P-E-C-C-A-B-L-E!

Definitely, one for the books. I must say.

The exchanges of lines were made with such eloquence and sophistication. The delivery were on point. To me, it felt more like a full-length dramatical dialogue than it was a movie.

This is, by far, 1 out of 2 #SummerMMFF entries that made me want to unleash my inner demon. The fact that the whole film was shot in just one setting (a single plot only), will make you realize how praise-worthy of a movie this is. No wander it bagged most of the movie festival awards including Best Film and a Special Jury Prize for my dear Elijah Canlas.

Furthermore, the whole movie conversation are insanely well-woven (artistically-fit). It is way, way different from those movies whose conversations will bore you to death. I was greatly astonished as to the how the storyline was laid. Apparently, there were explosions of revelations — one revelation to another. The kind of revelation that will really get you psychologically affected (if not, partly disturbed).

For lack of a better word — PUZZLED.

Few of the questions that are going through my mind right now are the following:

— What really prompted Marcus, Romnick’s partner (Ericson), to commit suicide? Was it really because of extreme jealousy or was it because of fear for the possibility of an unjust publication of his work and therefore, a possible loss of ‘artistic integrity’ over a non-fictional novel about the 3 of them (a novel chiefly written in the Filipino language)?

— What was the intention really of Lance, who happens to be Eric’s former student, for befriending him? Was he romantically-involved in any way or was the intention really is to steal one of Marcus’s (or someone else’s) unpublished work in order to gain instant literary fame and stature?

— Is Lance really that eager to publish a work under his name which, obviously, he did not author? Is he really willing to put their lives and/or reputation (specially that of Erics’) on the line despite Eric’s kindness and for all the things he has done for him?

— What is set to happen for Eric and Lance now that Marcus is out of the picture? Will their sort-of-platonic relationship (student-teacher relationship) progress into something romantic specially that Lance, later on, admitted himself to being queer?

I, definitely, need answers. Enlighten me, please.

If i were to rate this move, i would give it a striking (9.5/10 rate) — a minus 0.5 for the cliffhanger!

KUDOS to all the hardworking people behind this film, to the main casts and to the writer/director of this brilliant work of art.

Just watched this today on special screening. There's so much more to watch than what the trailer is portraying. If you've watched the film, I think you would agree with me that the very substance of the film is not captured fully on the trailer. Or maybe because I've watched the film first before the trailer. Nevertheless, it's worth your money. Love the flow and the straightforwardness of the conversation and how the characters shift emotions gracefully.

Guys, watch this. Highly anticipated ko to but di ako nagexpect ng todo kasi baka umasa ako. BUT THE FILM DIDNT DISAPPOINT. This is Direk Jun Lana's best since idk, Anino sa Likod ng Buwan?

Grabe. Conversational siya thruout the duration of film but never naging boring, actually, bitin pa! Sobrang galing ng actors. Theyre perfect for the roles.

And to give you a hint, this is not BL guys. Yes, queer characters but far from BL or romance. This is a psychological drama.
