One thing to say is that Yuta did see him as Satoru Gojo, that’s the whole reason he did this, which is something I think people missed, Yuta expresses anger at the others as they pushed everything onto Gojo, recognising it was more than a human could bear, realising they were turning Gojo into a monster. Yuta didn’t want Gojo to be alone, or to just be “the strongest” and not human, so Yuta decided to become a monster as well, So his friend and mentor, wouldn’t have to be alone again
