Rebekah Marine, a New Jersey-based congenital amputee, almost gave up on her dream of becoming a fashion model when a casting director told her she would never make it. But she didn't let that stop her. In recent years, she has strutted down some of the fashion industry's most exclusive runways, all while modeling one of the most advanced bionic arms on the market.

I also was born missing my left forearm, it's never stopped me, I've always felt as if it's held me back but seeing this video just shows that we can do anything, and that I should embrace my arm. I'd love to have one of these when I'm older, I'm only 15 at the moment, but from when I was younger and Would get called names it's amazing how now this generation understand and don't judge, they don't treat you differently. And yes there's always the hatred but that's what makes yuk stronger. This is probably so cringeworthy but I found this video really interesting so thanks for uploading it.

I'm constantly encouraged by the progress in prosthetics. Small computers, powerful sensors, lightweight materials, efficient servos, computer aided design all coming together.

So fucking sweet. It just looks badass, not to mention how it has changed her life. Next stop, synthetic tissues and reconstructed nervous systems.

I totally understand you, it sometimes makes you feel like you wish you were like a normal person

This is great, and truely uplifting, but the unspoken issue is the fact that in order to get work, she must use the prosthetic. I'm sure her employers are concerned that nobody wants to see her stub of an arm. She is undoubtedly a beautiful person, with or without the prosthesis, I wish the industry she works for could see that. ✌

Finally something to be proud of. Could we have the people inventing these kind of things running the world? Add a bit of Noam Chomsky to the mix and the future is looking a whole lot better

How much for that arm? thanks if anyone answers.

Isn't it weird? My Body is almost perfectly normal, yet I do nothing with my life.

I wait for something that will never happen unless I finally take it in my own hands.

It's interesting that the new "high tech" prosthetics are still using the original method of muscle contraction to control movement. My step-dad's old fashioned hook hand prosthetic uses a wire attached to his biceps muscle to open and close his hook.

Cyberpunk is always in style because it gives way to dreamers and then from there it gives way to innovators.

This style progresses the world

I like how these new prosthetic limbs don't attempt to look "real" with fake skin and hair. Those plastic limbs always looked like a weird facsimile and I always thought it's be better to just make them look sleek and mechanical, with sharp lines and LED lights for no reason other than looking cool. It's neat to see that becoming more common place.
