Both cpu perform the same but they definitely outperform an i9-10900K for sure. I just bought an i9-14900K, DDR5 RAM 64GB at 6400mhz and an ROG STRIX Z790 motherboard to upgrade from the 10900K can’t wait to see how it will perform.

14900k is literally just a rebranded 13900ks. But to their defense they made it cheaper.

Thanks for the MSFS benchmark, I did not thought you would still use it. Could you test it with the same condition for each video to compare the performance with your previous one? MSFS fps are very dependant from the location, time of day, weather, aircraft you are using.

You lot need to realise you don't need to upgrade your cpu every gen. This for me would be a great upgrade from my 10900k.

Thank you for including Starfield! That was my question - how much the new intel 14th gen would improve over the 13th gen. It looks that I will keep my i7-12700K. At 4K and max settings, it isn't yet the bottleneck.

If you already own 13900K there's no point upgrading to 14900K. 14900K temps are higher than 13900K and same performance, I don't know what was Intel thinking when they launched that CPU.

Low 0.1% FPS has more advantage than average FPS on 14900K in many games, but not all of them.

Is there ANY benefit to choosing the 14900k over the 13900k? I'm no Tech, but these benches would almost make me think they were the same exact CPU but with one slightly OC'ed. Are they the same CPU in terms of specs? I'm scratching my head wondering why they even wasted their time releasing a CPU that's only a tiny speck faster... aside from a $$$ grab.

Basically a 13900KS renamed. Same cores same cache size.

You can overclock your 13900k for about the same performance. Probably would need atleast a 240mm aio or a good air cooler (purely for gamimg temp wise).

I’m not kidding this is actually just a slightly overclocked 13900k. The power draw is also slightly higher which justifies it.
