Montessori practical life helps the child to become independent by practicing important every day skills.

One of the Montessori practical life activities is called Spooning, where the child learns to spoon dry beans from one bowl to the other and then back again. Montessori spooning helps the child to learn balance, improve gross motor control, increase patience and concentration, and also improve the pencil grip; a pre-cursor to writing.

Please visit The Wonderful World of Montessori website, where you can learn more about how to present Montessori practical life spooning, as well as all the other Montessori presentations.

I really wonder about the part where you wrote "If the child can't do the activity, we gently stop them and they can try another day". What is the difference between "not correcting them" and stopping them? How exactly do you do that and why?
