I'm in America, so left hand steering wheel, but we managed! We actually went through the drivers side where there's some space to get into the area, but having the glove box out helped the other person guide because they can see the port from there. Thanks for the inspiration, because we probably wouldn't have done this at all if it required taking the console out.

This is a great video, but what you are doing only works for the mazda 6 with the steering wheel on the right side and the glove compartment on the left. In the USA the steering wheel is on the left and the glove compartment is on the right. The aux adaptor goes on the back of the left side of the radio set. It's easy for you because you can pull your glove compartment out and feel the adaptor slot, but for someone in America, that's the side where the steering wheel is, so that's why we have to remove the entire center console to get to it. It would have been nice if mazda put the adaptor slot on the side with the glove compartment for both left and right steering wheel versions.

Required a good 5 minutes of fumbling around trying to insert the adaptor, but the second it was in, success.

A heads up to anyone who wants to try this: it definitely helps to have an image of the back of the radio so you can navigate it by touch. (I just googled a picture on my phone, worked fine.)

Thanks for the video James!

Thanks bro. Saved me $120. Took me 2 minutes to install in my atenza wagon. Shop was gonna charge $120 so I started looking online. Appreciate the guidance.

This video is awesome.
Thank you so much.
This saved so much work.

On a RHD car its exactly as you say.

Take out glove box.
Find socket .
Push it in
Done 😀

A few tips
Use a smart phone with flash on to video behind radio after taking glovebox out to see where you are aiming.
I had to turn the radio on and off for it to work the 1st time

Thanks again

1. If your car is 11+ years old, you might want to clean under the cup holder & Gearbox.
2. If you want to snake it through the middle, it's worth the 5 extra minutes it takes to remove the center parts.

But both ways are valid, thanks for the video.

Does this also work in a Mazda 6 from 2004?

Used a vanity mirror and a torch to identify the socket. Fitted now. Thank you.

Hey mate you saved my life ! I just took a bunch of screwdrivers and went to install it and then I saw this great video. Actually I drive left wheel mazda 6 and it's the same as in the video.

It all depends on where you want the cable to come out. Most people want the cable in the middle console, inside the elbow rester. The process is very simple, and it doesn't mean at all destroying something.

Good video, I hate the idea of tearing it apart to fit a stereo, just wondering, what setting do use on the stereo unit, I don’t think there’s an aux button? (Looking at a 6 but want to play music off my phone) does anyone know?😊
Thanks
