Most motherboards have another m2 ssd slot, located under the gpu then to the right

Not sure, but it's the volume and surface area that matters, not thickness.

i have an asrock steel legend b550m whereby the heatsink is shared across the nvme ssd and the motherboard's chipset, the 990 pro i bought has a heatsink which is quite hard to remove. would you recommend i keep the motherboards heatsink and try to remove the 990 pro's heatsink?

or are there any viable options like using an aftermarket heatsink for the chipset alone?

Thick is not better. More surface area and more fins are better for dispersing heat. In this video he would benefit more with the longer motherboard heat sink

HELP!

i currently have the t700 with heatsink and i want to remove it. (I already have) and will it void the warranty? ALSO i dont want to use the heatsink due to its largeness. So i want to use my mobos heatsink which also states its 10X at heat dissipation. Can i do this? Also on the non heatsink version, there is a sticker on it. Since i got the heatsink version and i removed it, there is no sticker?? Does this matter, should i worry? The thermal plate for my b650e atx ice should cover the ssd but there wont be a sticker, so it will directly touch my ssd. Am i good??

I need help, I have my ROG STRIX B760-A GAMING WIFI D4 motherboard and I will install an acer predator gm7000, the motherboard has a heat sink but the ssd has like a thermal pad and a sponge along with the thermal pad
Should I remove all that to be able to install my SSD? Or should I just remove the thermal pad and leave the sponge

I removed those stock thermal pads on the m.2 and installed my wd sn850x which has heatsink without adding anything. Is that bad, will I regret it later? New build, and i’m new to PC’s. I’m getting anxious over this, please help!
