Samsung Galaxy Nexus Android 4.2 Walkthrough

Aaron takes a look at Android 4.2 (also called Jelly Bean) on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. It's a mostly evolutionary update from Android 4.1, but brings some new features such as gesture typing in the stock Android keyboard, improved lock screen features (namely, easier access to the camera and widgets), and new improvements to the camera. And who can forget that new camera feature - Photo Sphere! It's available for download now on unlocked Galaxy Nexus smartphones.

Just got a genuine Samsung 2000 mAh battery and cover off eBay for $33. Also upgraded to 4.2.1 Jelly Bean -- was piece of cake - highly recommend it.

Actually it was 4.1 being called "Jellybean", that is unusual, as the names are normally changed by the whole number, rather than the dot /point upgrade. For instance, this (4.1/4.2) would usually STILL be considered Ice Cream Sandwich 4.x

You forgot to say that you can access Google Now directly from the lockscreen. Its the same drag-up from the little holographic looking circle where the home button would be.

Aaron, by using two thumbs to pull down the notification bar, you can access the toggles directly, rather than click that button.

To show the widgets you only have to start swiping from the border of the screen. I also had problem at first.

lock screen is really frustrating sometimes... i feel like you should be able to have widgets and the quick unlock things like on 4.1

Of course, custom roms too. The fact remains that the majority of Android users won't try any of that and will be stuck with whatever the phone manufacturer leaves them.

I got it and it has arrived on the Sprint Galaxy S3. Not sure why he hasn't made a video about it but it is not the most incredible update on my phone. Kinda dissapointed just because some stuff like the notification bar got laggier but the rest is noticeably smoother.

Ok if you wanna do the widgets first time clicking lock button, swipe down from the middle of the clock widget, then you can swipe left and right to other widgets

just got one for my wife and now one for myself .. was waiting for the N4 but the availability killed it for me. The N4 is "faster" but the GN does all I need at less of a cost (pick up an unlocked version on eBay for 300 bucks). The GN is also a bit more resilient due to its plastic construction (no glass back) and you can replace the battery

in most places, yes. some 3g networks are faster than some LTE networks.
