Air Conditioner Heaven Revisited - Some of them Running!

I came back to the air conditioner heaven behind my therapy office and it was pretty nice outside so a couple were running. All of the other air conditioners that I talked about but didn't film, I had already filmed them in another video. Check my channel if you want to see those. That dying 1.5-ton Carrier ductless unit...uhh...why is it making that noise? Low on refrigerant? Anyhow, enjoy the video.

The side-discharge Carrier unit - if it's a heat pump it sounds as if it's stuck inbetween cool and heat, probably went into defrost (if it's a heat pump, only heat pump's defrost) and the reversing valve got stuck between cool and heat, defrost is nothing more than the unit going back into cooling mode (without the condenser fan running) to warm up the coil quite fast so it don't freeze up while heating. If it's a straight cool unit it could have a damaged compressor from running in cold temperatures without a low ambient kit, or it could be low or flat on charge, also the side-discharge unit's condenser fan's don't spin as fast as a traditional condenser does, some are 800rpm compared to 1075rpm. great video :)

There are some carrier side discharge units in my town but some are getting replaced, so at my Elementary school, the one In my area there was one and it got replaced with a Fujitsu, probably had the same problem as this one since it did not sound very good, it was from 2001 and it was a 2 ton. There is also one at another elementary school in my town but not in my neighborhood and it got replaced with a Trane mini split, it was from 2000. there is another one in my town that’s is still there and it has a low ambient kit and it is from 2000. All of them were 2 tons. That bad noice is probably a problem for these Carrier side discarge units

What does 'low ambient' mean? I noticed that one of the units had some yellow grass (or some such thing) in the lower fins. It's a good reminder that during mowing season if your mower is discharging grass, it's best to have it discharge away from an air conditioner that is a ground unit. Good work. Good information.

There is three new carriers and two new Comfortmaker’s in 2020 the 2020 comfort replace the 2010 one and the 2020 carrier mini split replace the old the old 2012 carrier mini split and there are two new Comfortmaker’s from 2020 to 3 1/2 ton with two blades and a 2 ton with three blades which go very very fast. I don’t know their speed they’re from 2022 and I make air conditioner videos 2 but there are lots of new units there for that 2000 for 2 1/2 tech 2000 it’s still there
