$150 DIY FIREPLACE MAKEOVER | budget friendly and renter friendly fireplace upgrade idea

What do we think?? Decided to DIY my fireplace for under $150 and I think it turned out pretty nice 😊
.
I started off using real stone peel and stick tile but that was going to require a wet saw and I was like ehhh 🥴🥴
.
So instead I used some peel and stick tile I found on Amazon and it was exactly what I was looking for! Durable and thick but easy to work with.
.
All you need is a 2-3 boxes of tile, an exacto knife, cutting board, and measuring tape.
.
How to: clean off the area, measure it out, make slight cuts in the tile with your exacto knife, bend at the cut and it snaps off with a pretty clean line!
.
It definitely got tricky at parts and it’s not perfect, but for $150 I’ll take it!
.
Such a great idea if you rent a house or apartment or are like me and don’t want to drop major $$$ on a project yet.
.
Tile and material is linked in my bio and I’ll add it to a highlight on IG. YAY! ✨

It looks nice and brighter. As the comments say, they could melt. You say you don't use the fireplace but can see it has been. Keep a watchful eye on it. I like changes. For the cost, you can do it in warmer months, take them off in winter.

The granite is nice, but I also like the concept of brightening it up...I have green granite, so I totally understand. The color palette looks amazing

Love it. Where did you get the tile from?

Has the fireplace heat melted the glue on the fake tiles?

Why one would cover up that beautiful stone with plastic is beyond me…

Our fireplace has that ugly brown and gold granite around it and my husband and I hate it. We're trying to find something safe, but not permanent, to cover up the ugly granite.

Temporary (till that fire gets hot a couple of times).

Why would you cover up granite with cheap peal & stick junk???
Shameful… that stuff isn’t fire/heat safe…
-It would be fine for a prop/faux fireplace for a stage set, but not a actual working one in a home
