CtW 101 // Pretzels, Chocolate & Amish Countryside in Pennsylvania // Full-Time Truck Camper Living

Lancaster County, Pennsylvania is a gem when it comes to exploring a part of the United States often overlooked by RVers. Just a short drive from Gettysburg, and full of great Harvest Host camping opportunities, Lancaster County offers some of the best landscapes and friendliest people.

A few of the places we visited had some pretty unique names:
* Bird In Hand
* Strasburg
* Intercourse
* Paradise
* Ephrata
* Lititz

We also managed to pack in a visit to Hershey (yes, we had our fill of learning how delicious chocolate treats are made) and we visited the Bethlehem Steel Stacks, a memorial to the steel dynasty of old.

Your dogs are so cute at the beginning. I have family in Pennsylvania near Pittsburgh. Also used to work at a pretzel place in the mall here in IL. Enjoy your videos!

I have always wanted to eat my way through Amish country. The build your own candy bar at Hershey is really cool.

As an 11th-generation Pennsylvanian, these are my stomping grounds. You all bit off a lot for one day! Amish country to Hershey would've been a day for me. Then Bethlehem and Jim Thorpe another day. Then head further up into the Poconos for a few days. Clearly your truck survived because I'm watching this a few months later, but you were only just getting to the mountains. On the turnpike section you drove, my favorite part is coming out of the Lehigh Valley tunnel - your still surrounded by mountain on the driver's side and on the passenger's side you get a nice view down over the Mahoning Valley - it's awesome in Fall; it can be worth paying the toll for that view.

ETA: On Google Maps - if you do you look at bicycle routes it tells you what the elevation changes are so you can see which route has the most/steepest hills. May help to cross-check the route that way. Obviously, it can't tell you about highways, but it's useful for smaller roads.

Transmissions always seem to be the weakest link, and often the most expensive. Hopefully when it does decide to puke your in a good place. Love the video, its cool you guys went north east when most the other youtubers headed south. Keep living my dream!

Did you know Lititz was voted "The Coolest Town in America" about ten years ago? .... I was living in an apartment in Lititz on the first block of Main St. at the time. I also lived in Intercourse before moving to Lititz. I rented on a property called The Hat Tavern Farm, built 1723.
