This is a remastering of
"Ninety-Six Days"
by Francolini, Hayes & O'Keefe

This was the Last Great Band of the 20th Century.

Back in 2014, I made a long form video, which took the 1999 album "Twenty Twenty Sound", along with every single b-side, unreleased, rare track that I could find associated with the album (and not Zürich, which was their second, never released follow up) and coupled them with these
4 films :

Le Sang d'un Poète (1930) Jean Cocteau
The Witch's Cradle (1943) Maya Deren
Ritual in Transfigured Time (1946) Maya Deren
The Trial (1962) Orson Welles

and called it I AM THE SUN. It was 90+ minutes long.

I am no longer allowed by YouTube to upload full albums.
Studio Canal will copyright ban Le Sang d'un Poète (1930). And its segments in I AM THE SUN were some of its best.

So I'll upload what I can in pieces. Not necessarily in song order. And
the Le Sang d'un Poète segments I'll think of some other highly
experimental film from the 1930's and 1940's that might fit. Le Sang
d'un Poète fit so well with the songs it was frightening though.

I AM THE SUN is not the same without it.

Dark Star signed to Harvest Records, the progressive rock subsidiary of EMI. The band went on to release several EPs and a debut album, Twenty
Twenty Sound, produced by Steve Lillywhite. Following the touring and promotion of Twenty Twenty Sound, the band entered the studio to record
the follow-up. Due to a change in personnel at EMI and a general lack of
interest from the label in the new material, it was agreed the two parties would part.

The band subsequently split in 2001 with no official announcement, to
pursue different projects. They were unable to release the already recorded second album, so a bootleg of pre-master mixes of this album is
now in circulation, entitled 'Zürich'

NINETY-SIX DAYS

He's pale face,
pale green
shirt brittle as plaster
He don't mix too well
til he knows your name
(He just likes it that way)
(Likes it that way)
(Likes it that way)

Comes in from the side door
smelling of petrol
Says he sleeps much better
now the weather's cold
(He just likes it that way),
what's eating my brother?
(Likes it that way),
what's eating my brother?
(Likes it that way),
what's eating my brother?
I know

Last of the believers,
front line dreamers,
hope falls from the sky;
he's half blind
A born leader?
Nature's self deceiver,
goes on about the sinners
Yeah, we're alive
a long, long time

You better watch what you say - nothing
You better watch what you say - nothing
You better watch what you say

(He just likes it that way),
what's eating my brother?
(Likes it that way),
what's eating my brother?
(Likes it that way),
what's eating my brother?
I know

He's one of a kind,
fear lined,
white dog collar worker
He's high strung,
low-slung,
got his flies undone.

Last of the believers,
just won't give up,
hope falls from the sky;
he's opine
A half mongrel,
championing the Gospel,
saviour of the people -
we're all fine
A free-wheeler,
used karma dealer,
searching for prozac
bohemian preachers
He'll build a Tower of Babel,
with whiskey on the table,
it's only when caned
that he's able.

Faking my way
through the land of the living,
into the sun
and the sand
that is sinking
The cruel lights,
cruel eyes on me.
Who was the man
said we came
from the sea?
It's all right,
s'alright by me,
'cos I'm on a mission from God
to be free
so goodbye

He's not been sober (since daddy passed away)
He's not been sober for ninety-six days

It's mortal paranoia,
that's barking at this dogma,
just can't deal with death,
as for Ennui
He's motivated,
borderline,
fixated,
manic to point
of obsession
for heaven's sake
Says
"God's with us all of the time,
his myriad faces in abstract
form our lives"

He came down with the biblical bug
when I was five
