I’m an IT Network Engineer and Systems Architect. And even to me, the fact that we’ve been able to create these things as a species is still nothing short of magic. I still just barely understand how it’s possible.

3 micron was *actually* 3 micron. 3 nm is 45 nm CPP and 23 nm MMP. Nothing on that chip is 3 nm. It's not a 3 nm node; there's no such thing. 3 nm is just a name intended to convey good feelings (tm). It's not a figure of merit.

you just took me from my late 70's Uni of Hawaii education about FETs to 2030 in 20 minutes. Technology now is like science fiction, espionoage, politica drama and geopolitcal and geoeconomic drama. it is the most interesting, compelling and gripping thing ever. Thank you so much for turning my brain on fire with each video. given also my chinese ancestry and that TSMC is my largest new technology holding I am especially grateful for how much you are educating me and entertaining me. aloha and mahalo

The 2D materials portion got me so hyped. I've been waiting to see when this technology would take off. I absolutely cannot wait to see her videos on the various new 2D materials being researched. I naively just assumed we would be referring to graphine, but obviously industry would start researching what other 2D materials could be made and see what magical properties they have.

Awesome video! As always.

Taiwan has said that they will always keep the latest nodes and packaging technology in Taiwan.
The US plants will produce "legacy" chips.

can't pretend I understand all of the technical aspects, but it's very interesting to see such incredible tech development and to see the host here so excited about it makes it even more enjoyable.

Feels like taking a 'blind' step when you don't know how deep the step is. Good video as always from Anastasi

For perspective, a hydrogen atom has a diameter of approximately 0.1 nanometer, and a silicon atom has a diameter of approximately 0.2 nanometers.

The hard limit being approached here is the thickness of an atom, 0.1nm. When we get to 2-3 atoms its a hard limit. The big jump I am looking for is stackable transistors, a 20nm dual stack transistor would probably outperform a 5nm design due to far shorter routing.

Another excellent video from Anastashi👏 well done. I am currently in my final year of undergraduation aspiring to be a chip designer and i cannot believe how the hell fast the industry is moving. Seriously the quote about making 20000 years progress will actually become true

Wow! You really tied it all together. Well done. I found that to be one of the most well crafted and informative presentations you’ve made.

it’s amazing to me that i have a device in my pocket that uses all this sci-fi technology

At the sub 1nm scale you can start to use the Casimir effect and tap into the zero point field (quantum vacuum, aether or however you want to call it) for the energy requirements of the chip. From here on its all about quantum physics and the research that has been hidden in plain sight for 100+ years. This is why the US demands for TSMC to move to North America. We live in absolutely fascinating times.
