The Barbatos is by far my favorite mobile suit. Not just the design and how badass Mika pilots it. But the sound aesthetic. The exhaust vents howl like a wolf and the steal cable when he gets the tail added scraping on itself as it shoots out and retracts sounding like the laugh of an imp on Barbatos' shoulder.

Am I the only one who loves the Hashmal's beam firing noise? It sounds like some unholy monsters screech. I love it

The person that created barbatos must have been batshit crazy. A Gundam that gets stronger for every sacrifice.

I love this moment. It was the defining moment of this series. All power comes at a cost. Mika was willing to sacrifice all for the power to protect his family. However McGillis only focused on the power. He never realized sacrifice. He was cold and calculated. He understood loss and risk but not sacrifice. This made their alliance ill-fated and sealed their fate.

Barbatos is quite an interesting Gundam. It don’t have fancy light sabers that can slice other MS cleanly in two, it doesn’t have huge particle cannons that can obliterate capital ships. It only has metal weapons and traditional firearms. Fighting like a mechanised gladiator, striking down his enemy bit by bit, then end with a lethal blow.

Never get tired of watching this fight. Mika is a literal monster, kid gets the job done.

One of the greatest scenes in Gundam history. Mikazuki is an homage to the downtrodden. He rose up to take on what was keeping he and his family down, and he was willing to give his life for that change. That boy’s unfailing resolve made him damn near unstoppable.

That "You jerk" moment is the only moment I can remember in the series where Mika actually sounded angry.

I love how the Barbatos almost has a mind of its own and it just craves destruction and combat. Mika is the perfect pilot for this Gundam because they have the same personality.

I love the sound effects. I love the sound of the impacts of the weapons.

This is easily one of the most intense Gundam fights I've ever seen, and I was honestly kind of terrified of it. There was so much going on at once between Mika and the Mobile Armor. The speed, reaction times, the close calls. I had a hard time keeping up with what was going on. And that was just *one* Mobile Armor. I can't imagine what it was like during the Calamity War three hundred years ago. Fighting one that's been asleep for hundreds of years was bad enough. Fighting two or more must've been a death sentence, or worse if that's even possible.

That moment when you can't rely on your party to help with a raid boss and you go "Fuck it, I'll do it myself!"

Before this moment, we asked why the mobile suits were so absurdly powerful. After this moment, we asked if the mobile suits were powerful enough.

There needs to be a prequel to this show that explains the Calamity War and everything that happened!

We totally need a Calamity War series. Seriously, I've been asking to my self, who created this monstrous Mobile Armors, why is it programmed to kill humans how did they make the Alaya-Vijnana System, and the Gundam Frames. Also want to know who Agnika Kaieru is.

the way he's leaning at the end.... unreal and absolutely the best and coolest pilot in Gundam argurably

I love that how Mikazuki isn't a generic emotionless protagonist, but he has his own quips.

This was easily my favorite fight in the show

There was a small bit in this fight that showed something most folks probably never noticed: The reason for Barbatos' original giant mace.

Mika has changed the weapons Barbatos used to lighter weapons, for dealing with other Mobile Suits, and learning how to fight them more effectively, which he finally masters at the end of season 1, but those weapons are pretty much useless against the heavily armoured Mobile Armours - even if you can hit them easier, it doesn't help much against that thick nano-laminate armour. When Mika picked up the big sword to use, he noted that "Ah, this is perfect. I can kill it with this, " because that's the sort of weapon you need to destroy the monstrous MA: heavy and durable melee weapons that can pierce and crush the armour. The heavy mace can easily batter the MA, and then the finishing blow will come from the piercing power of the hidden pile bunker.

He risks it all to protect the woman he loves and family. I can imagine the pain he went through as a true hero . A true Gundam Pilot.
