Which police car do you guys prefer? The final police car or Pe-Alpha police car?

These Protectors look WAY mor 60's than the actual ones we got. The Champions look like 70's cruisers. Would've been nice if this game had a time jump like Mafia 2 so both could be used.

I think that the Samson Protector would have looked nice as a different agency. Maybe the car used in Sinclair Parish or as Louisiana State Patrol so it could go around the bayou.

Note: It actually does appear in the game, it only appears in the intro though. Also, since some of the clips used in the intro were from 1965, it means that the Samson Protector was used until that point.

There's a plain version of this car parked inside the lot of the police station where one of the playboy mags are. I thought it was a police car at first when I was playing last night lol

I was so incredibly happy to find this in the files. I had just found out how to swap models out, and while I was looking through the list, I noticed something interesting. The filename for the standard Richmond-Lux is "samson_wizard", iirc, and right below it was one marked "samson_wizard_p". I had a hunch, so I checked, and sure enough the Champion PE is "smith_mainline_p". I swapped the models (figuring the worst thing that could happen was the game could crash) and sure enough, there was the Protector, completely intact!

Personally, I think the Protector is in kind of an interesting position; it's way more timeline-fitting than the Champion PE, but is also horrendously out-of-date by 1968 - and we know that the NBPD is NOT hurting for money. Maybe it should've been the Sinclair Parish cruiser, or have a smattering of them in the NBPD fleet, say they're being phased out in favor of the brand-new Champion. Great job on the video, though, MG, and thanks for responding to my messages! It was great to see this in my feed.

If I were to guess, the Champion wasn't likely to be a replacement, but rather one of two cars for each of two period arcs or more, just like with Mafia 1 (1930-1938) and 2 (1945-1951). Mafia 3 likely suffered the same problems as Mafia 2 where the storyline was condensed and scrambled so cars that shouldn't belong ended up in the wrong years (like the '48 Caddy in '45, and the '57 Bel Air and '57 Ford in '51). The cars in Mafia 3 may have indicated a far more extended storyline set between the late-1950s/early-1960s to the early-1970s, but was whacked down to just 1968.

That car looks like it is based off a 1959 Dodge Coronet. It would be a really outdated cop car by 1968 when by that time cars were more boxy and didn't have tail fins anymore, so maybe that's why it was cut.

I think the Samson Protector would’ve been a great addition to the cut Empire Bay DLC, it is a great addition not only because variety of police cars in the game, but apparently, the DLC took place in 1960, and that was the year after the car, a 1959 Dodge Coronet came out and also became a police car, so it would also be a realistic asset to the DLC…

Maybe it was apart of a cut intro to the game where when Lincoln was 16 he was about to be lynched and he killed a cop and escaped to Vietnam so maybe that vehicle was supposed to be the cop car
