I'm pretty sure Heimer and Ekko are breaking into the academy to steal some hextech gemstones. The Z Drive and Heimer's gadgets aren't gonna build themselves

The portfolio edition of that book is basically one big timebomb ship tease. Its jinx writing ekkos name with hearts, drawing his face, calling him best boy, boy savior, cute, dork, etc. there's also direct references to the z drive and his classic league weapon.

Finding out the directors for arcane designed the themes for these pieces and approved every image themselves has me wondering what we'll get from jinx and ekko in s2.

I thought that they were breaking into the Uni of Piltover to make the Z-Drive for Ekko. It's powered by hextech (or at least I think it is, in the lore it's some sort of pseudo-hexgems), and the university would be the best place to steal a power source and materials from.
If they were intercepting a message I would've thought that they would be in a more political building (except the Council building bc Jinx blew it up). The 'message' also doesn't look like a pheumatube that we saw in season one when Grayson receives the message from Vi and when Caitlyn is given a job request from Jayce. From the looks of it the message is built into the tube.
