Zoom noise cancellation vs Krisp noise cancellation ⚒️ Buckle in, because we are in for a big ride to test👇

In August 2018, Zoom announced and added the long-awaited Zoom noise cancellation feature. According to Zoom, this function automatically detects and blocks Zoom background noise, such as keyboard typing.

This function is switched on by default, so you don’t have to do anything in the settings. When you make calls using Zoom noise cancellation automatically works in the background, and you don’t need to worry about turning it on.

Recently, Zoom added two additional advanced settings that allow you to suppress either persistent or intermittent background noises or both. The difference between persistent and intermittent types of noise is that the first is continuous noise, such as air conditioning or fan noise. In contrast, intermittent noise is irregular sounds like keyboard strokes and barking dogs. These two settings are also enabled by default, which means that when you’re in a call, Zoom recognizes background noises, whether they’re persistent or intermittent, and removes them from your calls.

We will be testing Zoom noise cancellation against Krisp, which is a noise cancelling app that removes background noise during calls in real time.
It works with over 800 communication, conferencing, recording and streaming apps and can be used with any headset, microphones and speakers. The difference between Krisp and Zoom noise cancellation is that Krisp removes the background noise from both sides of the call, allowing all calling participants to have noiseless productive calls.

The test will include Zoom's moderate and aggressive noise cancellation test of intermittent and persistent background noises as well as Krisp's bi-directional background noise removal in Zoom meetings.

To turn on/off Zoom noise cancellation, click on Advanced in Zoom Audio settings and choose the level of background noise cancellation that you want.

Krisp does a great job at filtering out unwanted noise but it also makes my 200$ mic sound like a 20$ headset microphone

I've been using Krisp for a long time. It takes care of my squeaky chair sounds, doors opening and closing, air conditioner, and more. It helped to see the Zoom options and their limits... and also how I liked the sound quality of the Krisp processing far more than the Zoom -- especially when Zoom needed to be aggressive to address much of the noise. With kids in the house, this has made it possible for me to do client sessions where they just do not hear what's happening elsewhere! Also, Krisp works in Skype and I sometimes even turn it on for my podcast recording if it is a lawn-care day outside. Thanks for the review! Really well done...

This is going to be game changer and a gods gift to me as continuous construction work keeps going on next to my room. Will try it. Thank you.

I was on a Zoom call just today where I forgot to enable Krisp and was using my default microphone on my MBP. The person on the other side commented that it was very loud where I was. I was surprised. Then when I switched Zoom to Krisp microphone, he said, "It sounds like you just stepped into a phone booth. Those people sounded like they were sitting right next to you!"
All of the talking and other noise was dampened. I love the Krisp microphone and tell as many people as I can about it!

Krisp is the best to remove background noise in Zoom conferences. Thank you for your cool video

We use Zoom as it is a fantastic application for our business. We did notice recently that it has noise cancellation but took a decision to keep it off and stick with krisp. Why? two reasons. The first is that we believe that krisp is best of breed for noise cancellation and Zoom do what they do best. After all, if krisp go into video conferencing, I'd probably stick with Zoom and keep the best of both worlds. The second reason is that we centralise our noise cancellation in a single solution. This means that we use krisp for Zoom, Skype, Teams and OBS Studio. Any future solution with a mic and speakers will go through krisp for noise management. Great solution and delighted to be an affiliate.

i dont often trust the company that sells the software to review, but i myself find krisp to be very good, an "honest review" should point out the big drop in audio quality though, not an issue for average calls but for content creators could be an issue. i use it myself but i hope krisp will work on the quality drop issue

I think this software would improve drastically if there was a way during set-up say words and sentences to be saved in the AI software so recognizes the users exact voice and when they are speaking and takes out everything else that isn't recognized.

To deal with the noise my family and neighbors make i think I'll need zoom on brutal mode and Krisp on the highest cancellation level available together.

I kinda wish they would work on muting the human chatters on the background, cause sometime my home wouldn't be silence unless they are at school or at work.

Zoom Noise Cancellation or Krisp? Which software did a better job at cleaning background noise? 🔊

One noise it struggles with is high frequency noises like birds. I'm in the upper portion of a building and right next to a window. I tried adding a sound proof shield around my Yeti mic, but even with that and Krisp on, I can sometimes hear them.

What are the preferred zoom settings when using Krisp and AirPods. The vocal sounds a bit underwater and Im wondering if that can be more clear. Even the woman's voice here sounds a bit muffled. Thanks!

We use Krisp with Zoom and we find it very helpful. We are in a red zone for Covid and our meetings are attended by a max of 25 people with another 25 remote. We have five meetings weekly. We sing acapella and comment in the meetings is both ways. Remote and meeting room users participate. We use separate pre-amps with 2 mikes with a Mackie Mixer in a room that is 50 X 40 X 12. We have Zoom noise reduction on medium and Krisp Remove Noise off when singing. We mostly have Remove Noise On when speaking in the meeting room. We believe we experience RF interference with cell phones so they are shut down. Does Krisp clean RF interference?. Does Krisp overrule Zoom noise reduction when KRISP is selected. Is it better to have no Zoom noise reduction or on low level noise reduction. We use OPL and Phase Reversal on mike pre-Amps (2), to minimize unwanted audio file noise. We have 4 mikes in all but we activate only 2 to minimize competition of the analog capture of the audio file. Any suggestions?
