DIY Tesla Model S Key Fob Battery Change / Change - EASY!

This video will show you how to replace the battery on the Tesla flagship, the Model S. This video covers all version including p85 and p100d. First you will need a small screwdriver as well as your replacement 2032 battery (I've linked those above). You will first need to remove the small back panel. BE CAREFUL as it's not extremely strong plastic. Next, you will be able to access the battery compartment. Switch out the low/dead battery with your fresh one. Close it back up and you're all set!

TESLA Service is supposed to replace both fob batteries at service. This time the left new batteries in the car.... Too lazy to change TESLA service is getting BAD!

the new ones have a one piece cover that is pretty easy to unclamp, but still requires a thin blade like a small screwdriver. (EDIT:: I see you made a new video...kudos!)

They must have changed the design in newer fobs, because mine doesn’t have that split in the middle on the bottom panel. Instead there’s a hole in the back from which I have to _carefully_ pry it back and up. Then the front of the panel seems stuck, so I carefully slid the screwdriver under from back to front until it loosened up.

Also, this fob takes a CR2330 battery instead of the CR2032.

I used the end of metal nail file and it worked well to pop the key fob an replace the battery.

I've been getting notifications for over a week about needing a new key-fob battery. Still able to unlock the door from across the parking lot. Going to change it today and check the battery voltage. (guessing it'll be pretty close to 3V)

Thanks, this made the change so easy. I was getting "key fob battery low" warnings on my dash. Not anymore.
