Daniel Kehlmann - Fame and the writer - PEN World Festival, may 2012

Deutsches Haus at New York University presents
Daniel Kehlmann - Fame and the writer
apart from PEN World Festival, May 3rd, 2012
The public image of today's international literary stars is more often defined by the Internet and worldwide book tours than by what they write. Many successful authors feel that their celebrity has little to do with their work, and even less with themselves and their personal lives. In this discussion, Daniel Kehlmann engages in a conversation about the alienating effects of seeing one's life reflected in the public eye.
Daniel Kehlmann was born in Munich. He is the author of Measuring the World and, most recently, Fame. Among his accolades are the Candide Prize, the Literature Prize of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, and the Thomas Mann Prize. Kehlmann divides his time between Vienna and Berlin.
