Nils and Bianca always have the most innovative choreography especially when it involves acrobatics. Long live the best dance couple ever!

16 minutes ago I had no idea what a Lindy Hop was. Thanks to YouTube recommended I now know it's the best dressed championship in the world.

Well deserved win for Nils and Bianca and they now have a song named after them 😂 they have such an edge on working their ariels into their routine making them look smooth as butter. And they did amazing avoiding the other couple at the 14:10 mark 😳 they were going for an ariel I think and deviated at the last second. They are so in tune with each other

As someone who has no idea what I just found but loves sports, here's why this worked for me:

Rules - I think there are rules but they didn't feel the need to bore us with the details.

Format-they kept that sucker moving. No commercials, no blabbing. You came here to see some Lindy so we are going to give Lindy uncut with no intermissions. Double elimination with a small international field is genius. Our host was perfect. He gave us just enough info that one could feel like an expert spectator after a single battle. This has more in common with thunderdome than football. Two couples enter, one couple leaves.

Skill-there was some legit quality. Acrobatics, synchronization and a freestyle element. There was also a drop off which gives you the underdog angle where risk has the potential to keep you in the game. The frantic pace meant that mistakes were inevitable but the haves kept their Lindy hot while the have nots dragged their partner around the floor.

Fatigue-this was the X factor. If you lose, you've got to go right back into battle while a previous winner gets a decisive advantage of rest.

Danger-watching the 7 foot guy fade in a puddle of sweat knowing he's got to throw his partner around even more to catch up was a sight to behold. The lady's face nearly skimmed the floor on every flip. At any point the possibility of a career ending injury was just an ill timed Lindy hop away.

Flags-an ingenious way to judge an event. Much like the medieval executioner, the flag doesn't lie. Flags up, next battle. No discussion by windbag judges killing time. Keep it moving so fatigue remains a factor.

The great unknown - the songs from the fantastic live band appear to be unscripted. The contestants had mere milliseconds to put together a strategy that fit the beat and one that was different than before. Whoever goes first reveals their hand so going second gives you a chance to up the ante for the win. Nothing like telling your partner "I hope I see you on the other side because it's 50/50 your face is going to be filled with splinters on the next number."

Shoes-as our victors basked in well earned victory, shoes were fired onto the playing surface like a hat trick celebration. A culmination that further cemented this as a legitimate sporting event with intelligent fans.

Thanks YouTube algorithm for bringing this very important broadcast to my attention. International Lindy Hop is now on the radar and will be in the regular rotation. It has everything a sophisticated viewer could want with the dash of danger that lures in NASCAR fans - a spectacular crash could be around the next corner.

I am telling you Nils & Bianca are the ABSOLUTE BEST.

I've said it before and I will say it again, Bianca and Nils are in a different league. Everyone must know its a one horse race, and see the experience of watching them dance and competing against them as a learning experience.

That final round was so entertaining. The last section had me laughing. Bobby splits..haha!

I think Nils’ and Bianca’s similar height contributes to their performances. I love the hug after 2nd go. They also seem more as if they’re enjoying themselves and some other pairs seem to be working at it.

Nils and Bianca's level was way above the others. I wonder how exactly did the band name that last song!! 😊

Is it true? Did they name the song after Nils and Bianca?

Is there a way to watch the prelims for competitions?

I don't understand how Akemi and Bobby got that far, honestly. Their moves felt really sloppy and imprecise (not talking about the aerials which in my opinion were great), Sofia and Ramiro were better imho. :(

Impressive. These dudes are awkward movers, though...
