Ok, value was the peice I was missing. Because even contrasting colors dont look great together if they are about the same value. Now I know why my stripes looked muddy, even though the pink and blue yarns looked so cute together when sitting next to each other.

This video is indispensable and a must watch for someone like me, who struggles not only with color choices for colorwork items but also any project that is more than one color. I’ve been trying (and failing) lately to make appropriate matches and have even resorted to using color generator apps, most of which are not the least bit helpful.
