Millie Bobbie Brown shines in this winning YA romp as the similarly-omnicompetent teenaged sister of Sherlock Holmes (Henry Cavill), who goes adventuring in London seeking their missing mother over the objections of older brother Mycroft (Jude Law) and works her way into a dangerous mystery involving a missing Vicount and scandal among the nobility.

Sherlock was written by a doctor, who in his youth was a Scottish gang banger. Sherlock was freakishly strong. In one story a thug bends a fire poker to intimidate the two, after the thug leaves Sherlock unbends the fire poker with out the benefit of leverage. Showing not telling the audience that Sherlock was stronger than the thug. He was also an accomplished stick fighter, the most popular martial art in England at the time. Compared to his contemporary literary characters Sherlock was an action hero.

I actually like Henry Cavill as Sherlock, they should totally have him star in some solo movies as Sherlock

So Iron Man, Dr. Strange and now Superman have all been Sherlock Holmes. I hope Heimdall's next 🤞🏿

It was a clean, simple but detailed movie. I enjoyed it and hope to see more of it. I am glad you are on the same boat as me on this. 👍

The only moment I was disappointed in this film was near the end when it dawned on me that it was a 1-off movie style thing not a series and there was no more to watch.

This reviews re-run is a good opportunity to enjoy Bob's T-shirts.

Funny fact enola holmes has been used before in other media. Some people think it's a new thing. It's not

This movie made me think that Millie B is going to be another Leo Dicaprio. She's too young to be this good, should lead to a great career.

Speaking of "needing a replacement", we need more work burying the BBC Sherlock dumpster fire...

It's really funny that you reposted this on the same day me and my friends planned to watch it.
And yeah, it's pretty good! Would definately watch more!

It's still weird to me that Henry Cavill, of all people, is Sherlock Holmes in this movie.

I can't get over Mycroft being the dumb one. Also, I think it makes a big difference whether or not the viewpoint character is the fantasy super detective or a much more ordinary sidekick.

This was really solid! I hope they make a few follow-up movies.

this is probably the most refreshing take on sherlock holmes since the bbc's sherlock I personally love the idea that the Holmes brothers have a younger sister that we never knew about until now

3:34 still wondering why they did the corset=oppression cliche.

I think Henry Cavill was Genius as Sherlock in this.

Just a huge man who appears larger than life. He's very clever but not actually half as clever as he thinks he is when not compared against dull average men. Patient and Intellectual but apathetic from the world.

It's very clear to Me how this Sherlock is a middle sibling between Mycroft and Enola

Has Bob ever read a Sherlock Holmes novel? Because he really isn't perfect at everything, if anything he is fine tuned to be perfect at only the skills needed to solve crimes. In one story Watson even tells him something which he assumed he would already know, and he replies by telling him that the information was interesting and he would thus go about forgetting it, something about the brain being an attic.

I still don’t know why the thumbnail is a The Man From UNCLE scene.

Sherlock in the books is actually written as really physically strong and a skilled fighter.

Anyway, I really liked this film. I hope they do more.

The 'Mary Sue' complaint isn't even that relevant, either. When you're rich member of the landed gentry, you have all the resources in the world to obtain books and journals to study. With no TV, internet, computers, radio - all you have for entertainment is study and creative arts. If you're not creating, you're learning or practising. Imagine if you had nothing else to do all day but read, practise martial arts, and study? You'd git gud at a lot of stuff too.
