Agree 100%. It’s not just marketing, Specialized puts so much into racing R&D and trickles it down to their customers. I’ve owned 2 S-Works bikes and NOTHING compares! Also their S-Works level kits, helmets, shoes, etc. are next level in performance. It’s simple... You get what you pay for.

I am a cyclist, but also I sell high-end kayaks and people always poop about the prices. When you work on the inside of the industry, it becomes clear that the amount of work that goes into the best kayaks is pretty insane. Hopefully this video will help people get an understanding on what to spend on a new bike. I'm 61 yrs old, 6'5, around 250lbs. I'm not going to be in any races, but I do enjoy the sport of cycling. So my needs are not like someone much younger than I am. I would ride the 9r spec carbon bikes all day, because those "subtle differences" don't really matter to me, but I understand why they would matter to someone who is interested in racing, etc. Different strokes for different folks. You're doing a great job of informing people of the nuances of all aspects of cycling products.

Just as a many of us cant tell the difference between overpriced and regular wine, the same goes for overpriced bikes. To be able to tell the difference or appreciate it one has to drink, or log miles daily, or couple of times a week. Lets keep that, Ego in watch to be less exploited by merchandizers.

FYI the S-Works Tarmac SL6 also got the 12r carbon. Infact it was the first bike to receive 12r out of specialize's line up

I had a 2013 Venge Expert which was 10r carbon. It was a noodle compared to the Venge Pro that used 11r carbon and the S-Works that also used 11r carbon back in the day. It kind of bugs me that the $7, 000 SL7 Pro uses 10r carbon that was used on my $4, 399 Venge Expert back in 2013. They should have used the 11r layup for the SL7 Pro and the 12r for the S-Works.

The CruX is great because even on the base model it still has the same 11r as the S-works
