Biden blasts Trump as 'un-American' over hurricane 'outright lies'

US President Joe Biden has slammed Donald Trump as 'un-American' over 'disinformation' and 'outright lies' about the response to storms in America.

Biden hit out while delivering remarks at the White House as Hurricane Milton barrelled towards the Florida coast. He was speaking about the impact the hurricane was set to have on the communities that live in its path - and how the federal government was set up to help in the aftermath.

The President told reporters and viewers about an 'onslaught of lies' about how the government was handling the damange from Hurricane Helene, which hit the southeastern United States a few weeks ago.

He also took aim at Republican congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Green of Georgia, who he said had claimed the federal government could 'control the weather.'

He said: "Quite frankly, these lies are un-American." and added: “Former President Trump has led this onslaught of lies.”

Asked why he thought Republicans were saying this, Biden told reporters: "It’s un-American. It’s not who the hell we are.”
