Ancient Egyptian Flute Ney music

A piece for Egyptian Ney flute inspired by Percy Bysshe Shelley's poem "Ozymandias".

A reed flute Ney is believed to be the most ancient musical instrument played up to this day. It dates back to predynastic Egypt 3000 BC and has a very simple design, it's just a piece of cane with seven holes in it.

These days Ney is a very common instrument in traditional Middle-Eastern music, in it's Turkish, Arabic and Persian variations. The one i play in this video is Arabic(Egyptian) Ney, tuning B Kiz.

I accompany the melody with Greek Bouzouki lute, Spanish Flamenco Guitar and frame drum Tar.

I really think or hope to believe that I was an Egyptian in a past life or way way way way up my family tree.

I can’t explain it but I just feel a huge connection when I hear music like this. The flute especially. It just takes me back and I feel like I’m going to the temple or the pyramids to show reverence to the Pharaoh.
