Yes, we visited @yamaguchi_barber aka The Night Barber! 🎉 Thanks to all of you who suggested we visit; it was a wonderful experience 🙏🏼

Yamaguchi Barber Shop, if you didn't already know, is a 4th generation traditional Japanese barbershop tucked away in the coastal town of Hayama 🌊 Easily reachable by train from Tokyo, it's a popular weekend destination known for its beaches, yachting, windsurfing, and now its Showa-era barbershop!

Yamaguchi Barber Shop originally opened in 1920, but for the last 20 years has been in its current location. Modeled in the Showa era (circa the 1920s - 1980s); natural stained wood, timeless vintage accessories such as the clock, desk calendar, and a vinyl collection that many music buffs would be so jealous of! 🕰️

Slip off your shoes when entering, the interior beckons with a feeling reminiscent of a traditional Japanese public bath house.

At the heart of this intimate barbershop is a desire to provide the best possible hospitality to customers using handed-down family traditions 💈❤️

We were met by 77-year-old Masao Yamaguchi, a 3rd generation barber who works alongside his 4th generation barber son, Taro Yamaguchi. Masao-san has been barbering since he was 17 years old and studied in Yokohama! He likes motorcycles, fishing, and jazz music. Masao-san particularly enjoys listening to Bob James & Stevie Wonder 🎶

Masao-san says he enjoys all aspects of barbering including haircuts and shampooing. You may have seen Masao-san's work on the Yamaguchi Barber YouTube Channel. Masao-san says he loves watching his videos on YouTube!! He is happy when he sees lots of views and interesting comments❣️😊

We also filmed with Taro-san for the Yamaguchi Barber YouTube Channel 🙌🏼

✨ Masao's life advice is to simply, "Follow through with what you want to do!”

In this video, Masao-san provides a relaxing haircut, hair wash, and head & shoulder massage 💇🏻‍♂️ Check out the innovative detachable sink for the hair wash.

These Japanese shops are all just absolutely stunning. Each has its own personality without feeling cluttered or forced. Really feels like you’re seeing an extension of the proprietor.

YES! I love the other videos of this guy on YT! So glad you got to visit him!
Age means nothing in Japan, I reckon he’s as talented and quick as he was in his youth!

Harry has consistently found these hidden barbers. Well, was hidden. This gentleman is very popular on the east and his rise started this year and Harry is already there. Thanks Harry for making these dream collaboration videos. Youre really in tune with the top barbers in the world

His method is very unorthodox. Its not about precision but rather efficient and suitable. Its amazing to see a master at work.
