I've seen previously where they explained that they rate the reactions to the tricks so they know which takes are good enough for the show. This guys reaction seems very subdued and he barely cared about the paper so I'm surprised they even showed it.
I imagine they expected he would ask to try a different size, which would seem pretty insignificant at any other time.

This trick is done by having the rolled up paper in his sleeve. He pulls it out in a way that makes it look like its coming from the shoe.
