Doug is the kind of guy who tells his wife the Ferrari 612 he bought is actually a practical family car.

Doug is the kind of guy to put his own car on a list of interesting cars

I generally think reliability is a subset of practicality. If it isn't reliable then it isn't practical, but being reliable does not necessarily mean the car is practical.

I think it is safe to say doug is in a new tax bracket now after that investment deal and him calling some of these practical

Doug, will you make a video describing the ~20-30 cars you recently said you want to own sometime during your life?

Only about 3-4 on this list are actually practical (in the sense that they have some utility to them). I've never heard "ridiculous", "absurd", "outrageous", and "crazy expensive" in the same sentence as "practical", but Doug succeeded in doing that while describing the Lambo truck. Must be one of Doug's querks and features!

I'm really surprised that no hot hatches made the list. Most of them are 4 door, can seat 4 or 5, the back seats fold down to allow you to haul bigger stuff, and they're generally cheap to buy and cheap to run.

Surprised you didn't mention the Kia Stinger GT, practical 4-door liftback but still puts out plenty of smiles with a twin turbo V6.
They are finally dropping into very affordable areas, just picked up a 2019 GT2 with a CPO warranty for $33k.

People should also know that just because these old powerhouse German cars are relatively reliable, there running cost are still going to be very high. For example, regular maintenance in a old Panamera is still extremely expensive. Don't confuse reliability with running cost!

Doug, I bought a 2004 Bentley Arnage T after watching your video a number of years ago. It ended up actually being the Arnage that Ed Bolian talked about on VinWiki, so it has some YouTube pedigree as well! I've owned it almost 3 years and have had to replace a couple pricey things (rear spheres for shocks, a new hood latch assembly and a new windshield wiper motor) but everything else has been regular/general maintenance and fixing minor cosmetic issues. It looks very close to the Arnage T you reviewed in your video, black with dark blue leather and turned aluminum trim everywhere. It has 61K miles and is my favorite car to take to car shows and Cars and Coffee events here in SW Ohio. Glad it made the list!

Thanks for including the Panamera! I own a 2010 4S that is beautiful, fun, fast, and hauls everything. We have a roof rack and haul kayaks, bikes, and occasional furniture. On road trips, it is the most comfortable car we have ever traveled in and gets reasonable gas mileage (26-28 hw). For $25-$30K I think it is a true bargain.

9:58 I use to work at a Lotus dealership and we actually had a good customer of ours with an Evora that ordered his with the intention of daily driving it and he had a kids seat in the back all the time. If your kids are young it's actually quite doable

The Delica was actually sold in the US briefly (named the Mitsubishi Van), but not as 4wd and not as many features

This was very helpful Doug! Could you make one on cheap good quality used cars for teens/new drivers?

For me, a big part of practicality is overall cost of ownership and that kicks out 80% of this list right off the bat. A practical car should cost no more than $500 per year to maintain, especially if you’re doing the work yourself.

The Panamera 4S is a solid choice. It's fun, fast, comfortable, reliable, practical and feels very safe on icy country roads in Northern Sweden. I have a fiance and two kids and we often go on long trips, this car never felt impractical nor boring

If Bentley Arnage, Lamborghini LM002 and Ferrari 612 are practical cars, I start to wonder what 'practical' means in Doug's dictionary.

Did he really just put a photo of an LM002 and "practical" together? LMAO

For me the biggest concern with practicality is the ground clearance. I don't mind giving my saloon a few scratches or scrapes but sometimes the place you want to go to with your family simply don't have any roads and you have to be concerned with leaving a tailpipe or two behind.
