How to Build and Repair the M3S Truck in DayZ - Fix, Drive, and Attach Parts - PC / PS5 / Xbox

Just a few tips I thought of! 
#1 if your tires are stuck in the ground never get in you will die and despawn the truck, instead take something from your inventory and throw it at it, it should pop out of the ground again (this goes for all vehicles)

#2 If you are driving and see the engine symbol flashing this means you are either red lining or the gears are stuck, for red lining you should simply change gears more efficiently or if the gears are stuck either put it in reverse, shut it off, or get out and back in, you will damage the engine both ways. 

#3 The overall "health" of your car and the engine are two different things. you can see the overall health by the color while standing outside the driver side looking in (I haven't seen anyone mention this and I still have yet to figure out how to repair it or if you even can) to check the engine open the hood and look at the engine, engines can be repaired with blowtorches. 

#4 If you are stuck on a tree take the doors off and drop them below your tires and get back in, this should pop your car up once you are IN the vehicle, repeat this until you are free. 

#5 Barrels and crates can be placed in the truck and can also hold extra storage while inside

Well, I learnt something new today by watching this video, i.e. that you assemble and disassemble twin wheels, that was the best piece of info for me, as the M3S is my go-to vehicle in DayZ.

You can punch your windows to get rid of them. I found my m3s with a broken driver front window and it was impossible to see much. Punched it out and I can see perfect.

The M3S can hold up to 4 barrels and wooden crates in a separate section from the inventory.

When you start the truck you don't have to start from first gear in order to get it moving you can go all the way up to 4th gear to get the Max Speed automatically which is 42km per hour.

Another thing to note for both the cars and the truck is to keep the engine running you can do this by switching to neutral gear before you hop out this will keep the truck or car running until it runs out of gas or the engine gets ruined or something.

More information to know is if a gas tank is ruined on the truck the gas rate will go down so fast it's not even funny so the truck is basically ruined if the gas tank is ruined until a new patch comes with them fixing this or adding the option (1.12 does not have the ability to fix M3S fuel tank, the engine or the windows when just damaged and not ruined)

the truck is very durable and can take a serious beating before dying and I'm referring to bullets but crashing will only damage the front bumper and nothing else and you cant go unconscious when going top speed and hitting something. Getting hit in the back from another vehicle WILL damage the fuel tank and basically render the truck useless.

The truck can go around the chenarnus map 3 times on a full tank of gas that is not damaged with makes it useful for long time drives and can go up hills with ease by going into lower gears with 1 being the best.

The truck is bulletproof from the back so you can somewhat make it a very slow ram that can have its tires blown when shot.

Since the truck is high off the ground it doesn't make a effective mobile cover(nothing make good mobile cover)

there also was 3 versions of this vehicle.
(Keep in mind that the other two versions of the M3S were in the dayz mod for Arma 2)

#1 M3S covered which is what we got in-game.

#2 M3S flatbed was a nice vehicle although it didnt have as much space as the covered version.

#3 M3S cargo which was the same thing as the covered but without the tarp.

(2022 edit) the newest 1.16 patch still does not allow the repair of the fuel tank with any items as of (Mar 1st 2022)

With a pipe wrench you can repair the engine. Stand in front of ms3 and look around the driver side of engine.

Good thing you mentioned the battery being different, found an almost complete truck after 3 days of searching, was about to go off and look for a regular car battery

Does the truck actually have brakes? When I press the brakes it doesn’t seem to do anything to reduce the truck’s speed. Downshifting is the most effective method I’ve found for slowing down, but the delay between shifts makes quick stops impossible.

On a related note I noticed that the brake lights only come on when I hit the brakes while in reverse.
