DNA was used for the first time in a criminal investigation back in the 1980s.

Even in the 1990s, Investigators had to submit a biological stain the size of a silver dollar to get even rudimentary results.

Now, if only 10-20 cells are collected, they can generate a DNA profile so differentiating that the number may have 40 zeros behind it!

New DNA collection and deciphering technologies helped solve the Lesia Jackson murder. Lesia was killed in 1979, but because the investigators properly stored the evidence until technology could advance enough to be effective on a touch DNA case, they were able to use the M-Vac to collect that DNA and solve the case.

Great work Montgomery County SO! You Make Texas proud!

All Things Crime is a new, comprehensive video series that will explore every aspect of crime and the ensuing investigation, one video interview at a time. The host, Jared Bradley, is the President of M-Vac Systems, which is a wet-vacuum based forensic DNA collection system, and has experience traveling the world training all levels of law enforcement and crime lab DNA analysts in using the M-Vac to help solve crime. Along the way he has met people from all walks of life and experience in investigating crimes, so is putting that knowledge to use in another way by sharing it in these videos.
