WE NEED A CONTROLL SETUP for EACH Emulator, not 1 for everything.

Nope..
The problem is the default x box layout doesn't work properly for every type of system, and there's no easy way to just remap buttons per core in retroarch. This software is a nightmare to use and I really hope someone else adds the parallel N64 and Playstation Beetle cores to their front end, as retroarch is so unpleasant it's migraine inducing. For example here, the xbox one controller maps the left bumper to the saturns b button in retroarch.. so you use left bumper to jump.. what use is that? Try to find a simple way to reconfigure it! No way!
Load up bizhawk.. has most of the libretro cores.. whatever rom you load it automatically chooses the core, then just hit settings/controller and you can use ANY controller that is connected to the system to quickly map buttons for that system.. whole process is 20 seconds tops. I use my 8bitdo M30 for saturn/genesis/sms/nes/32x for example, and my xbox one for PS1.. No issue at all and it actually has the proper names and proper controller layouts for the respective console.. unlike the nightmare known as retroarch. Problem is, it doesn't have the saturn, PS and N64 cores with upscaling so I really hope they add them some day.
Just one last example.. if i have only my M30 connected and launch retroarch, I can navigate the system correctly.. but start a saturn game, and even the d pad doesn't work let alone the 6 face buttons being in their correct assignments. I have zero idea how to fix it and no video shows us, they are all useless like this video.

What should I do to save the controller settings once I have set it up, so I don't need to do it all again when I quit retroarch?

Having difficulty mapping an Atari Paddle controller in RetroArch. It's connected via a 2600-daptor and RetroArch is using the Stella core. Any idea how to get a paddle controller to work properly?

So to anyone playing gamcube games and you want to change their camera from left being right and right being left swap c -x and c +x with each other and that should fix it so left is left and right is right.

what do I do if it just doesn't recognize the controller but the controller WILL work in any other android game/menu? I keep getting the "not recognised using fallback" error and I can't do anything but exit out of retroarch plus by force closing the app

Like for mortal kombat 2 32x I'm using a ps4 controller and want the x button as low punch square as high punch triangle as high kick circle as low kick and R1 as block

If anyone is having an issue with GameCube games with the A and B buttons being A (on Xbox controller) being B (on GameCube game input) you have to swap the buttons entirely on retro and switch it back when you are done with playing the GameCube game! Hope that helps anyone that was lost like me!

I tried both USB and Wireless but Retroarch won't show my SwitchPro Controller or PS5 Controller. I only get Virtual and Disabled listed under Device Index no matter what I do.

I don't understand all the options listed when I go into input and port (1, 2, 3, 4.)
Which options are JUST the buttons on the right side of the controller & which buttons do they each correlate to?
Way more options listed than I have on my retro snes controller, & I just wanna switch which button is used for jumping etc
