Finally, ES9018K2M used as basis for the DAC circuit.

This chip is the basis in my Denon CD player. The 9018 isn't new, but it's still my favourite ESS.

Shame Cambridge Audio don't add AV Bypass to their Stereo Amps to add to Pre-outs on AV Receivers, because I enjoy the sound quality from some Cambridge Audio stereo amps

I have always been a MKII kind a guy as they iron out kinks and tune. So really interested. I have the CXA81 so really curious.

I think you won’t be able to hear a difference between the 2 if they have kept their signature sound. Like the Arcam SA 20 and its replacement. You are buying an iteration. Improvement to looks and control maybe? Buy yourself the outgoing model and save a fortune. Match it with a brighter speaker as it is a warm amp and it will be perfect for life. I did this with Arcam. Got the outgoing SA20, matched it with the Arcam ST60, setup with my KEF LS50 Meta’s and it is perfect. The Yamaha RN803D it replaced went into a smaller room onto a set of those awesome Q Acoustic 3030i you have on the shelf. That is also a match made in heaven. A razor sharp amp on a warmer speaker. Volume cranked high, turned down on the loudness control and you have perfection.

I am “average” listener, and currently have the Azur 540! Do you think its worth waiting till the CXA 81 Mk ii or do you think the upgrade to the CXA 81 Mk i is sufficient?
