How to Style Gorpcore/Hikercore ｜ 2020 Fashion Trends

Hikercore or gorpcore is all about embracing elements of performance and practicality for outdoor gear whilst paying attention to aesthetics too. Basically 'trail gear, but make it fashion'. Key brands include Arc'teryx, The North Face, Salomon, Patagonia, And Wander and many more!

i remember as a little kid in the early 00s when everyone was into this hikercore/extreme sports aesthetic. It was in all the games and media. Really glad to see that places like REI are still considered cool.

I don't think I'll ever be caught dead in this. I was drawn to techwear because it was the first time I saw performance clothing that didn't look like something my retired stepdad would wear on a bus tour across Cyprus. And this entire hiker core/retro performance clothing look is just a tad to close to my parents wardrobes for me to ever consider. I much prefer the avantgarde cuts of techwear brands, maybe supplemented with some traditional outdoor brand. But after all fashion kind of comes and goes in cycles, I suppose it was about time for this stuff to make a comeback.

Gorpcore is basically a slightly cheaper more colorful tech wear and I've been rocking it all 2019.

I bought some Columbia hiking pants and they are some of the most comfortable pants I own. Waterproof, tapered lower legs and soft.

In early 2000s NYC, north face steep tech jackets had a moment in street wear. Both men and women would rock the jacket with the buckle clip across the abdomen with timberlands. That jacket introduced me to gorpcore.
