There is a place in BK called Aunts & Uncles at 1407 Ocean Ave that is a vegan cafe if you’re still in BK.

Made me want to return to explore my birthplace, parents moved out west to California when I was 7 and I haven’t been back since my teens. Looks like there are lots more reasons to go for a visit back to Brooklyn…. 🥰

I assure you when we lived there back in the early 2000’s WB did not look like this at all 🙈… I actually preferred it before as it was more under-built, industrial, rustic with legit vintage stores, record stores and bookstores. Now it’s for a certain kind of well off folks with over priced stores (and people who give you looks when you don’t buy anything 😑). They give me Imposture syndrome and anxiety!

It was snobby back then too though, but way more interesting. We use to walk from Bushwick (where we actually lived, more affordable), to green point farmers market, it was nice. Then we would get some fresh bagels or rather bialys from the Polish deli. We usually tried to avoid Bedford, but sometimes ended up there to stop at the record and vintage shops. The mom and pop shops got pushed out unfortunately. But at least now there are way more vegan options as there wasn’t much back then.

You do make that part of Brooklyn look a lot nicer. When I was there not that long ago it didn’t look like that at all 😂. Best 🌱
