Graham Hunter referred to Zubi as an "organizing midfielder" on a podcast. I had never heard this term before, and I think it's brilliant. An "organizing midfielder" seems exactly like what we are looking for and is an excellent descriptor for the 6 role in a team that wants to be ball dominant.

The recruitment situation reminds me a bit of Iago Aspas. Legend of his medium-sized childhood club leaving to test himself in unknown lands. For Martin to settle better than Iago did, I think it's important he start games early in his Liverpool career so that he feels involved and important. One thing to be lonely in a foreign country but a whole other to be lonely and not playing.

I think we've got the best chance of any English club of getting Zubimendi. He'd start for us and be a key player, and his dedication to Sociedad lends itself to admiring former Sociedad players such as Xabi Alonso, whom he played under for Sociedad B team.
