This was one of several videos I made back-to-back a few days ago, but I've been so excited about it I wanted to throw it up early! Enjoy guys, I know it's not going to be amazing to most of you but I'm a bit of a geek on this stuff.

I'm personally always the most intrigued when you publish these kind of video's. You're enthusiasm for this game is wonderful. I'm glad that you have been keeping this up for so many years already.
Me and some of my friends are actually going through all the GW1 campaigns again atm, so we have lots to re-discover! Sharing these maps and explaining more about them makes me feel even more nostalgic. Thank you for that, I definitely wouldn't mind seeing more of this if you can. ^^

The south area of this map seems to correspond with Ascalon such-as-it-was, with three guild halls in the sea south of it.

I love when you can tell a video maker is legitimately excited about the video they are making. Not to say WP isn't excited about GW2, but in this video it really shows.

Oh, and I love learning more about the world, so keep it coming!

Hey WP this was great stuff!
The Wastes map is really cool, and explains something from back in GW you talked about recently in a Janthir/Mursaat video. Remember the NPC in Divinity Coast that says that the island of Janthir is in the south. Well if originally the only sea players would see was to the south, then it would stand to reason that they must have been in the south back in development!
Also makes it seem a bit embarrassing that they didn't change that text - or that they never planned to have the Isles of Janthir to the north upon release of Prophecies!!

Cool, I loved the massive impact crater in the icebound area of the oldest map. I can imagine Norn cities either carved into the walls or occupying the centre over a huge ball of meteoric iron. :-)

I always get something out of your videos. This was interesting and I love how you are always placing importance on the 'why' of the video. It makes sure they're never boring or pointless and I love it.

Wow! This is the kind of video why I love your channel so much. Kudos!

Looking at the "First" Ascalon map, though... "The Wastes" seem to be far more prominent than the rest of the marked placenames. Given they had a "To Frozen North" arrow on it, I think Ascalon could have originally been called The Wastes and the map directly north of it Frozen North. Really hyped up for more old/scrapped content to appear now. Thanks mate!

To this day I am still disappointed we have yet to explore the remaining 90% of the World of Tyria. Everything is stuck in GW2 current map because for Lore Reason the World's Greatest threat is all bunched up in that one spot thus preventing anyone from going beyond the current Map of GW2.

Though that begs the question why is all the Elder Dragons going into this one spot and why is it such a Focus point for World threats. Heck even Bubbles is heading to GW2 Map location slowly if the records of Bubble's activity is accurate.

this was one of my favourite videos of yours in a long time - I love maps in MMOs, they're always a huge part of immersion for me so seeing a video like this was fantastic. thanks for making it! :)

I like "this kind of stuff"... a lot. Lore, speculation and looks behind the scenes are why I've been subscribed to you since the gw1 days :)

WP, I don't know how well you can truly get to know someone through videos someone chooses to release to the world... But, I have for a long time felt like you are a great person. I would love to beer with you mate. I hope nothing but the best for you, and merry Christmas!

The first map was actually Tyria before the dragons have remade it into what we know today.

Do we know why are all the dragons (maybe except the sea dragon) are clumped around this relatively small area of the world? Is Tyria where all the laylines meet, so most of the magic is around here? Or could there be more than 6 elder dragons?

What a cool video! Seriously, thanks a lot for putting in the effort of digging around for all those old maps and the trivia about them, I would've missed a lot of this if you didn't. =)
