My dad was Greek and was born in Peloponnese (Greece).when the Greek civil war broke out, he went to South Africa, Johannesburg. He grew up there as a child and when he was around 35 years old, he went to Mykonos for vacations and there he met my mum. They made me and my brother, when I finish my studies I want to learn Afrikaans just like him.🇬🇷❤️🇿🇦

(Edit:thank you so much for the likes!
It’s the most I’ve gotten ever!!💙🇬🇷)

Looking at South & South-West Africa as a unified nation on a map, it looks like it's about to eat Botswana.

I'm black and I find the Boers so cool other people don't understand they think I'm supposed to hate them but I don't. I know there has been a lot of tension, but there's a lot to learn from the Boers. It's so sad what they are doing to them in south africa. My heart is with you all ❤❤❤❤❤❤

I am proudly South African, 76 now, and my late Father and Mother proudly fought under this Beautiful Flag and Anthem, in the 2nd World War. My Dad fought and won, in the SADF in the North Arica Campaign against Rommel, s Afrika Korps, and my Mom was stationed at Wit Command SA Army Admin Division in Johannesburg.

I'm English. I can sing it all in Afrikaans, just like I did as a child

I'm South African. But I'll never see the greatness this country was striving towards. Those days are gone. Corruption and criminality are the law of the day and most of us are simply biding our time until we can escape the horrors of this country's future. I miss feeling patriotic. I miss feeling like our Constitution meant anything. And I miss this anthem. Mag die Vaderland weer eendag in sy helderste kleure skyn.

Under this flag, South Africa fought against and defeated Nazi Germany, instigated apartheid, ended apartheid, broke away from the British Empire and became a republic, built and destroyed their nuclear arsenal, something no other country has done. It's not a perfect history, but what country has a perfect history? I acknowledge it represents different things for different people, but instead of throwing the baby out with the bathwater, i hope history will judge it objectively for the good and bad things done under its banner.

I have listened to this song in both Afrikaans and English. It sounds SO much better in its original Afrikaans! No question about it.

Why was the 90’age of falls. Fall of the USSR, Apartheid, British Empire, Soviet Bloc and probably more

The anthem and its lyrics are extremely beautiful…. I'm not even an Africaner but it almost made me cry.
+ If you speak English and know some of German or Dutch, it is very easy to understand.
