GIS Day 2020 - The Other Fire Triangle: Ambition, Skill, and Opportunity

Dr. Jessica McCarty of Miami University presented her session at the Southwestern Ohio GIS User Group's Virtual GIS Day. Abstract: Just as the geospatial industry is diversifying and becoming more inclusive, so is wildland fire science. In this brief talk, Dr. Jessica McCarty will describe her career journey as a NASA-funded scientist working at the intersection of fire, remote sensing, and GIS. Her career at NASA began as a graduate research assistant and developed into becoming a Principal Investigator on her own NASA research projects in Earth Science. Come learn a little about fires, climate change, NASA, data science, and geospatial career trajectories.
