Greek baglamas played in Central Asian dotar (dutar) style - F c tuning

Been listening to a lot of dotar (also: dutar) lately. The word means “two string”. It’s a very old instrument in the tambourás (tanbur, tembur, etc.) family. Played in Iran, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and all over Kurdish and Uyghur homelands. Don’t confuse it with the Bengali dotara, a smaller, two or four course fretless lute.

The scale length is going to differ a lot from region to region, ranging from guitar to bass guitar to Turkish tanbur and greater lengths. The strings are steel and the frets gut or nylon, both equally tempered and microtonal fretboards exist. The herato dotar of Afghanistan stands out, as it has sympathetic resonance strings which are not being fretted, similar to how an Afghan rubab or a harp guitar would play.

Fourths and fifths are common tunings. I am in fifths here, in F c. Adapted from (Dd) A(A) d(d) standard baglamas tuning, which is the smallest member of the bouzouki family.

Thanks for the additional informations in the description! 🌻
I have a short neck Bağlama that I don't need anymore and intend to use as a Dombra / Dotar as well.
