Kita, Bocchi's name is literally 'being alone' and her sister's name is Futari. There are worse naming principles out there.

Kita is pronounced the same as 来た(came), the past tense of 来る( kuru / come ) in Japanese.
Ikuyo is pronounced the same as '行くよ', which means "let's go" in English.

She is embarrassed because the name Ikuyo itself represents a relatively traditional female name in Japan, and the full name sounds like a pun with the combination of the above meanings.
It is certainly an uncommon name for a young girl, but from a Japanese sensibility, it is a nice name that evokes a grace.

I'm Japanese. From a Japanese point of view, the name 郁代(Ikuyo) certainly sounds old-fashioned. But it also feels very classy. It sounds like a name that might be given to the daughter of a company president born in the 1970s.
