The issue with critics is they rate a game based mostly on graphics rather than gameplay. You end up with a polished turd but it is still a turd

On the topic of graphics: I think something that contributes to the samey-ness of all these high fidelity games is that a lot of game companies have started using outside engines to build their games with.

How many games use some variation of Unreal engine now? That’s not to say you can’t create your own unique visual style even using the same engine as somebody else, but it was a lot harder to have a game look the same as another when they used different in house engines.
The same or similar parameters used in two engines that are different from each other can still result in vastly different artistic styles due to those differences while the same or similar parameters in the same engine will obvious end up being the same or similar.

Bring back worse graphics and in-house engines >:(

I have to agree with the visual talk having a design/visual style is more important than big polygon count (Not to say that it isn't a style).

Wishlisted the game as soon as it came out. I’m not into stealth that much so I’ll probably wait until there is more content before I purchase.

6:15 Wander usually has the quieter video's of the people I watch. The only one who might be quieter is Aavak's Lady Shelab. I usually have to turn up the volume for Wander, lol.

actually, most games the PC is shorter than the enemies and terrain, allows pathing and stuff to be much smoother as well as watching the enemies from over your head in 3rd person scenes, it is actually crazy to think of how much shorter most characters ae to their surroundings

Video games have gone full post-modern. Much like visual art, anything goes nowadays. Super photorealism is no longer the main goal. It's been done already...So any style goes now.

More first person shooter aspects? The last thing you ever want in this is to start a firefight. Sure you are given a revolver, a multi-use pistol, and a shotgun, but stealth and ambushes are your greatest weapons. You can only win against 1v1 or 1v2 with guns but alert 1 and you alert everyone in the area within earshot of your gun and the bullet impact, and your enemies are no idiots when shot at, they will shout for reinforcements. I only ever used a gun when:

1.). I am about to light a group of idiots who walked in to my explosive barrel trap.
2.) When I'm confident that I have the upper hand in the gunfight like being in the 2nd floor while only melee enemies are in the ground, and frankly this is rare and I only ever resort to this if I see no other way around.
3.) When I ran out of shit to throw to distract enemies, which is the last worst case scenario I ever want to be in.

I am an avid Thief and Dishonored player but this thing schooled me. What if you have no access to all those wonderful tools in Thief or Dishonored? No water arrows to douse torches, no moss arrows to mute loud surfaces, no rope arrows to make impromptu high ground to avoid patrols, no grappling claw that will allow me to cheese the enemy by climbing walls. No dark vision to see through walls, no blink to teleport, no time stop, no cctv cameras, no drones, nothing. All you get is a sword and that's it. I didn't even bother with the ring because even if the light is dim I'm taking zero chances and want to be in absolute darkness as much as possible.

I am not saying that I dislike your style, but that wrinkle just refuses to go away. This is not permittable that you _somehow_ missed the passcode for the manager's safe. This is the kind of thing that should be obvious even to newcomers.
