Canadians usually follow the British pronunciations. I understand Americans also pronounce "foyer" differently, which should sound like 'fo-yay' since it's of French origin. And now I'm hearing Americans pronounce 'experiment' as 'ex-peer-iment' instead of the proper pronunciation 'ex-pair-iment', as if to sound more like 'experience'.

English is the most inconsistent language. So say what you want to, write what you want to. There are no rules and there is exception to every rule.if britsh say it is rule. If American say it's exception. Everyone else is wrong. Even native people where the word originally came for are invalid

Thats so wierd to me. My whole life my entire family pronounced it Vaaz and when I met my wife and she said it vais it just felt weird. I never made fun of her for it i just assumed I was taught wrong cause I came from a poorer area. But turns out its that im 4th generation imigration staus that probably kept some words that are more spoken only in the home from changing to standard american vanacular.

"Voz" sounds pretentious as hell.

Get with the program, Brits.

Vase rhymes with face.
