The 29th Southeast Asian Games was staged in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 19 to 30 August 2017, with around 4,646 athletes participating at the event, which features 404 events in 38 sports. It is most notable for being the first edition to include winter sports, such as ice hockey and ice skating (figure skating and short track speed skating).

It marks the sixth time that Malaysia had played host to these games, the previous ones were in 1965, 1971, 1977, 1989 and 2001, all of which were taken place at Kuala Lumpur.

Hosts Malaysia led the final medal tally with 145 gold medals and 323 medals of any color, and they were followed by the delegations from Thailand (72 golds) and Vietnam (58 golds). Several games and national records were broken during the event, but although it has been marred with several controversies and technical errors, they were deemed generally successful with its effective management of hosting cost spent and games promotion, commitment in environment conservation and with the rising standard of competition amongst the Southeast Asian nations.

The host broadcast operations for the Kuala Lumpur SEA Games were provided by International Games Broadcast Services (IGBS), the production house, in partnership with SEA Games Television (SGTV), which was a joint venture between Astro, Media Prima, and public broadcaster Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM). This track here is the official tune that was used and heard throughout the Games' TV transmissions by Astro and host broadcaster SGTV.
