How Sir Nick Faldo REALLY Feels About Phil Mickelson..

Welcome back to Golf District. Over the years, Phil Mickelson’s bold and outspoken character has gotten him in trouble several times. Regardless, Lefty doesn’t intend to change his attitude. However, back in 2014, Mickelson was under massive scrutiny for his comments on his Ryder Cup team captain and received backlash from several fans as well as fellow golfers, including Sir Nick Faldo. In the 2014 Ryder Cup, Team Europe defeated Team USA for the eighth time in 10 years. However, the American team’s defeat was later overshadowed by Phil Mickelson’s comments on Team USA captain Tom Watson. Following the comments, the six-time Major winner was slammed by Faldo. But what were Phil’s comments that got him in trouble?

Sir Nick Faldo has responded to Tour pro Scott Hend’s tongue-in-cheek contribution to the game's distance debate, which suggested playing without tees. The six-time Major winner pointed out on Twitter that he had the same idea years ago, only to be “shot down”. Faldo wrote: “Hello! I remember getting shot down with this idea years ago! That would instantly bring back striking skills under pressure! I’d love to see who’s good enough to drive 320 off the deck on a Sunday afternoon, more power to them if they can!" It is likely Faldo was referring to an interview he gave to podcast The Shack Show in 2020, where he said: "If they went and played a tournament with no tee pegs, right? Well, the guys would have to alter their driver. You would be allowed to place it on the grass.”

Nick Faldo seems like a control-freak at times - just from the vibes I pick up from him with his attitude and actions e.g. exercising a strong measure of control by making players use drivers with smaller faces - to make it harder for them to hit the ball from the "sweet spot" of the driver - thus gaining some power over how difficult it is for them to hit really good shots from the "sweet spot".

I'm quite surprised Faldo is against LIV golf and Phil... But I don't think he should be against LIV golfers not playing in the Ryder cup as in my opinion its European players vs American players and all the best players from both continents shoud be playing.
The likes of Poulter, Garcia and Westwood have contributed so much to the Ryder cup they dont derserve to be mistreated...
