Nice spot fin, haven’t caught one of those yet, but the yellow fin cousins love the 3/4 ounce kastmaster in sdbay.

We have Croker here in Texas too but is a different breed, more golden colored. I love catching the massive ones like this in the surf, great eating, great cut bait too

Exciting play by play when fighting the Croaker. I caught a 5lb. Yellow Fin Croaker in the surf years ago and now" 43 Years Later " I am reliving fun times when I was a teenager through your videos.

Caught a 5 lb sargo in bataquitos lagoon off a 4” big hammer with a spinner attachment on the jighead. Croaker and sargo pound for pound fight harder than calicos and spotties

Here is a story for you. I am a native of SD but now live in Ohio. When I was 19yo in 1972 I was fishing across from the VAcation Village motel across the blvd near what was then called the Atlantis restaurant. I was near the bridge one of my favorite spots on the rocks, not far from Belmont park. I was using a slip rig with a hge blood worm which I would buy at a bait shop back then not far from the old SDF sports arena. I caught a huge Spotfin I will guess close to if not 5 lbs. It was a lot of fun. Back in those days you could catch halibut at this location too. Another place I caught croaker was near the De ANza cove Hilton Inn casting onto the calm water towards Fiesta Island. They qouls bie early morning and late afternoon near dusk. I made a bait catcher from a kitchen dish drainer with screen around it and put bread inside of it and the smelt would swim inside so I used them for bait. Some guy my age now back then told me he caught a 6 ft tiget shark there but I didn;t believe him. We are talking 50 years ago. I love your videos and they make me miss home.

Dude! Thank so much for the input. I've fished SD for years with 0 luck. Now I know exactly what I've been missing. Much love and respect. Thank you sir 🙏✌🖖

I love fishing off the pier for croaker but every time a sizable spotfin comes along it breaks off right at the surface... any tips to keep them on?

Nice tips. Bloodworms from Seaforth works great from PB Pier near the surf break.
