There was actually supposed to be a Clone War arc where ahsoka was supposed to go underneath the jedi temple

and She actually would have seen darth sidious, but of course not his face, just His body and black robes

makes sense. Its also probably why in episode 3 in one of the many cut scenes, Palp's is saying he is granting himself command over the Jedi Order. That gives him full access to the Jedi Temple (and the Sith Temple bellow)

I wish this could've been explained in the movies, maybe by Qui Gon and maybe in ep 2 & 3 characters could have referenced "Qui Gon was right."
