The problem I have with many of these trivia type games is that once you play it enough you’ll know all of the answers. And since the trivia here is a super simple 50/50, it would be easier to remember the answers compared to something like trivia pursuit.

This would work a lot better as a digital game, I think. That way the trivia could be a bit more randomized

This is a student web development project turned into a board game. Interesting for about one minute and then never again.

Honestly this could of worked way better had the topics on the cards be split, and they get randomly put together when a round starts. Because otherwise, the replay value is shot as with enough playtime, from memory you can just remember the answer the moment it pops up.

Aside from the chips, this game's got the build quality of a kids meal toy. I guess that's fine for a $10 game you only play once or twice, but why splurge on chips? Would rather have kitschy plastic pieces or more cards and cardboard tokens.

I actually have this! It was in the clearance sale and I thought it looked fun enough to play with my family who all enjoy trivial persuit but sometimes want something quicker. I agree the build quality on the pieces is awful, we often just use other stuff instead for tokens. It's also a game that's better played in teams than with people on their own, so then you can have debates with your team mate on the answer, and the clockwise nature means that others can build off it too. You do end up with everyone putting a year though, as there's no reason not to, which can be annoying. One thing I will ay for people saying you would run out of cards, you do not get through a whole deck in a game unless everyone is playing poorly, we generally get through between 10-15 in a game that is generally under an hour. There are 2 decks included in the box so as long as you keep track of what's been used you can get a fair few games out of it.

My favorite game where you think about what things happened before which other things is Timeline. And it is different every time because you never know what cards are going to come up in a given game

I always appreciate when you do board game reviews. Typically the only times I learn about games I'd like are from playing them with friends, and rather than leaving and buying something that some one in the group already owns, it'd be nice to show up with something new for them. Thanks

Interesting game, but you probably couldnt play it too many times before knowing each answer by heart..
You could also probably make your own version of it using other games, like Timeline (you'd probably have to sort the tiles out a bit, not to end up with stuff like.. dinosaurs vs electricity)

Why wouldn't you just bet on a specific year every turn? If there's no punishment for guessing the year wrong and you still move forward if you were right about it being first, there's no reason to not try to guess the year right?

I have to say, I would overthink the cards to the point of confusion, like: do they mean "beyonce" as a solo artist, or including her time with destiny's child, or just when she was born? It's too ambiguous!

Feels like the kinda game you'd load up on tts one time whilst everyone's drunk and never talk about it again

Sounds like something I might pick up for $2 at a garage sale and play twice.

If you like the idea of this game, I would highly recommend getting The Metagame (which has something over 7 different games to play with the cards). In the "History 101" game, you take turns drawing pop-culture cards and working to place them together along a timeline. It doesn't have a competitive edge, but it has such high replay value.

What's great is that you have to make multiple comparisons with a single thing's year instead of just between two things. (Ie: where does KFC fit in the timeline of Salvador Dali, West Side Story, and Furby?)

not a bad idea for a quick party game but maybe instead of a long track just end the game after a certain number of rounds and continue for tie breaker.
